Hi Everyone,

On Saturday evening September 28th in Chicago, Ryugen suffered massive heart failure and the medics were unable to revive him. He was in Chicago for an all-day Buddhist meditation retreat. I talked to him at about 5:30 pm and he seemed to be feeling better than he had in a long time. Just after 10 pm, I got a call from the hospital telling me that he had died. Of course, I immediately jumped in my car and drove to Chicago…(I wasn’t about to just take their word for it…)

The ER folks said he appeared to have gone peacefully and without pain. For that I am thankful! His body is being cremated.

Meanwhile, I’m doing ok – under the circumstances. I really appreciate the expressions of support and offers of help I’ve already received.

Nita
